Dutch Golden Age

Dutch Golden Age is a period of outstanding Dutch cultural, scientific and commercial achievement concentrated in the seventeenth century, characterised in art by mastery of light, shadow and everyday subject matter. Leading painters included Rembrandt van Rijn, Johannes Vermeer and Frans Hals, whose works defined portraiture, domestic genre scenes and the group portrait for generations to come.

This collection brings together fifteen faithful prints of public-domain works by the great masters of the Dutch Golden Age. From the luminous domestic calm of Vermeer's Woman Holding a Balance to the commanding group drama of Rembrandt's The Anatomy Lesson of Dr Tulp and the monumental civic pride of The Night Watch, each print captures the characteristic interplay of light and shadow that defines the movement.
