Ohara Koson

Ohara Koson was a Japanese shin-hanga and kachō-e artist who produced more than five hundred prints of birds and flowers. He combined the disciplined observation of natural-history illustration with the soft tonal washes of the new print movement, producing some of the most prized bird prints in any tradition.

Best known for: Kachō-e (bird-and-flower prints), crows, herons, sparrows
