Piet Mondrian

Piet Mondrian was a Dutch painter and a founder of De Stijl. His grid paintings of black lines, white grounds and the three primary colours pursued what he called Neo-Plasticism, an attempt to reduce painting to its essential elements and reach a universal harmony.
